North American Rescue CAT Combat Application Tourniquets

The gold standard in emergency, field trauma medicine, the NAR CAT is the most trusted name in tourniquets.

If you carry a gun, you need to carry a TQ.  At least have it in your car or in a bag on your person.  We know guys in military/LEO that regularly carry 4 on their person.  Lessons learned there is you may use more than one to stabilize a patient (sometimes takes more than 1 TQ per limb) -- and you'll still want to have some for yourself or another person after the first casualty. 

Is that overboard?  Reality check:  You are more likely to treat an injury than you are to shoot through multiple magazines in a self-defense gun fight.  The fantasy of a gunfight is sexier than applying emergency medicine.  Would you rather be covered in a pile of empty brass after fighting off communists hordes vs when your father-in-law almost saws through his leg with a chainsaw in the backyard after falling off a ladder?
