The early GWOT days were a wild time. If you had a product that you could sell to the military, they were buying! No matter how goofy or whimsical.
Old heads will remember waves and waves of RFI, the Rapid Fielding Initiative, showing up. Units would be sent crates and crates of miscellaneous optics, accessories, slings, and you name it. No one read the manuals, no one had the same optic. No one knew how to zero. It was terrifying. You just tried to grab what looked cool. Inside this bounty of tactical trash were the GripPods.
Both a vertical grip, and a quick deploying bipod, the GripPod seemed like a 2 for 1 special! Only it is obnoxiously huge for a vertical grip, a terrible bipod for all intents and purposes, and not the most durable thing out there. About the only thing is it good for is to set your rifle on the ground and it will stand up and off the dirt and mud. As quick as these went on guys' rifles, they came right off.
Now though? Now you can build a GWOT clone, bro!
These are NOS, New Old Stock, samples. Most with the original bubble wrap and paper insert.
